For what reason Family Planning Has Been Chosen For World Population Day 2019?
World population day 2019 marked the 51th anniversary of a conference that focused on family planning. In 1968, the International Conference on Human Rights happened. For the very first time ever, family planning was affirmed to become a human right. The Tehran Proclamation, adopted through the conference, states that it’s a simple right of parents in order to decide on the quantity and spacing of their children.
An incredible number of women, globally, remain not given usage of effective and safe family planning methods. Which is why it has been chosen as the focus for 2019. A basic human right is to be able to get safe and effective family planning. It should also be a voluntary choice. Gender equality and women’s empowerment depend on it. Further more, it is a key factor in reducing poverty.
